Spaces weren’t being used as intended, despite a recently executed design project.
Three key design changes led to space optimizations to increase privacy, uncovering $280K annual savings.
The workplace team at a financial services firm felt that spaces weren’t being used effectively, and a design change could increase their efficiency, but lacked data to support and inform their optimization project.
The VergeSense Strategic Advisory Services team uncovered that while the floor was primarily made up of collaboration spaces, collaboration and flexible workstations were used almost equally because employees needed privacy.
The team made three design decisions to enhance collaboration:
Added acoustical elements to collaboration spaces to reduce noise and increase focus.
Adjusted table sizes in two-person cubbies for more comfortable and private workspaces.
Repurposed six-person conference rooms into open workpoints for three people, optimizing space use and enhancing collaboration.
Occupancy intelligence enables workplace leaders to optimize office characteristics and amenities for employee needs.
Identify most popular vs. underutilized spaces within the context of floorplan to make design adjustments or incorporate into future office design plans.
Understand inefficient space usage to inform space redesign decisions.
Track which space types are running out and when to understand where more of a space type might be needed and make design adjustments.
Understand how space types are being used to create optimal ratios for size, ratio, and number of workspaces.
Experiment with and monitor the impact of aligning amenities or space types within individual areas.
