Written by VergeSense | Feb 3, 2025 2:52:10 PM

Customer obsession is more than a core value - it’s at the heart of everything we do at VergeSense. Throughout 2024, we deepened our commitment to listening and learning from our customers, leveraging insights from our quarterly Occupancy Intelligence Summits, Customer Advisory Board, and our customer success team in the field. This feedback has been instrumental in shaping a product roadmap designed to solve real-world challenges and empower our customers to optimize their buildings and spaces with confidence. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to build on this momentum with new innovations and features that enable smarter, data-driven decisions across entire portfolios. Here’s a look back at the progress we’ve made this year and a preview of what’s to come.

Gain a holistic understanding of occupancy and space utilization trends across your portfolio

In September we unveiled the next-generation of the Occupancy Intelligence Platform, providing real estate and workplace leaders with enhanced tools to manage and optimize their spaces. By unifying and analyzing occupancy data from existing building systems data such as WiFi, space booking systems, alongside our industry-leading sensor data, our platform helps users to understand occupancy trends across buildings, floors, neighborhoods and individual spaces across their portfolio to make more impactful right-sizing and optimization decisions.

Customers can now get more from their existing building systems data, such as WiFi networks to make better portfolio right-sizing and space planning decisions. This is ideal for customers looking to right-size buildings and spaces across their portfolio, or better plan space designs to accommodate future needs.

With our integration support for Cisco Spaces, Cisco Meraki, and HPE Aruba Networks, it’s easy to ingest and analyze your WiFi data to understand occupancy trends at the building, floor, and neighborhood levels. This data is a great complement to the more granular data and analytics information you get with deploying area sensors across your conference rooms, collaboration spaces, desks, and more.

 Neighborhood level person-count

Coming soon in 2025, VergeSense is expanding its WiFi analytics capabilities with powerful new enhancements to deliver even deeper workplace insights. Our upcoming Juniper Mist integration will provide seamless connectivity with one of the most advanced AI-driven networking solutions on the market. We're also introducing advanced analytics that go beyond basic occupancy data, including dwell time tracking, desk utilization insights, live person count metrics, and network-level occupancy data—giving workplace teams a more detailed understanding of how spaces are being used. Plus, new visualizations like heat mapping will bring these insights to life, allowing users to instantly identify high-traffic areas, optimize layouts, and make data-driven workplace decisions with greater confidence.

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue expanding the feature set to provide users with the solutions they need to effectively manage, optimize, and plan their spaces. This also includes updated capabilities for our area sensors to help customers keep floor plans and metadata up-to-date, more AI-generated analytics insights to further understand how employees use space, and additional integration support for other occupancy data types.

Leverage the power of AI with Workplace Assistant

While we know that occupancy and utilization data is key to making better optimization decisions about buildings and spaces across your portfolio,we also know you need an easy way to extract the insights hidden within the data to capitalize on opportunities for change. That’s why in May, we announced the release of Workplace Assistant, our AI-powered solution designed to enhance and accelerate how real estate and workplace leaders make portfolio and space optimization decisions. Workplace Assistant leads the way in the new era of intelligent workplace management solutions, allowing teams to spend less time sifting through data and more time experimenting and iterating on opportunities for improvement across workplaces.

Workplace Assistant combines the capabilities of a real estate strategist, workplace experience expert, and occupancy analyst, right at your fingertips. Users can interact with Workplace Assistant via a natural language interface and gain personalized recommendations and suggestions to enhance workplace efficiency based on unique occupancy trends. What once required weeks of data gathering, meetings, and analysis can now be accomplished in minutes. This means faster decision-making and capitalizing on opportunities for space optimization.

Insights, powered by Workplace Assistant, are now integrated natively in the Occupancy Intelligence Platform. Users can now receive notifications to further explore four key metrics across their spaces, including:

  • Attendance Insight: This metric offers a quick snapshot of average daily peak occupancy across spaces, helping workplace teams gauge attendance trends and optimize resources accordingly. By understanding occupancy trends over time, leaders gain a reliable basis for planning and resource allocation.

  • Shortages Insight: Detects high-demand spaces and areas experiencing frequent use, signaling where there’s a need to adjust for better availability. It highlights shortage instances when spaces reach 80% capacity, enabling informed decisions on redesign or resource redistribution to meet real-time demand.
  • Bookings Insight: Integrating with space booking systems, this insight pinpoints availability and ghosted spaces (booked but unused), providing a true picture of actual space utilization. It also supports automation for auto-release of ghosted rooms, improving access to vital spaces.

  • Efficiency Insight: Measures space usage relative to capacity across various space types, revealing opportunities for redesign or resource adjustment. This insight enables workplace leaders to make proactive adjustments to enhance space utilization.

What’s New: ROI from Booking Data Insights

Customers with booking integrations can now see the ROI of hours reclaimed, seamlessly integrated into the platform. With Booking Insights, you gain visibility into booking data at the building and floor levels, complete with mapped spaces for deeper analysis. Clicking on the Insight takes you to the Booking Summary table in Analytics, allowing you to easily see which spaces have the most scheduled, attended, and no-show, early release, or no action events (and hours).

As a reminder, you can understand the terms and how to set up an integration in the Knowledge Base.

If you do NOT have an integration with your booking system, you will soon see a dismiss-able insight, showing you how many hours customers typically can reclaim in a week if they have Space Booking and Space Booking Actions enabled for their critical spaces.

We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of how AI can transform real estate, workplace design, and planning for the future. In 2025, we’re eager to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation, leveraging AI to deliver deeper insights such as person count, peak usage, and dwell times. These advancements will empower workplace leaders to make smarter, data-driven decisions and unlock the full potential of their spaces. The future of workplace intelligence is just beginning, and we’re excited to lead the way.
